You’re working on a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (manual emergency brake). Front brakes are very doable DIY if you take your time.
What You’re Doing (Big Picture)
You will:
- Safely lift and support the van
- Remove the front wheels
- Remove calipers and pads
- Remove rotors
- Install new rotors and pads
- Reassemble, torque properly, and bed brakes
Front brakes do NOT involve the emergency brake system — that’s only on the rear.
Tools & Supplies (Lay Everything Out First)
Required Tools
- Floor jack (3+ ton recommended)
- Jack stands (never trust the jack alone)
- Lug wrench or impact
- Socket set (metric)
- Breaker bar
- Torque wrench
